The Questions I’m Asking in Bali

On AI, speed, and staying grounded in what matters.

If you’re anything like the founders I work with, you’ve got a lot in motion (offers, launches, team decisions, AI tools, growth opportunities) and a calendar that already feels full.

A lot probably feels like noise.

The pressure. The constant pull in every direction while you’re trying to lead what’s already moving.

I’m writing this from Bali, Indonesia, where I came to attend The Future Summit - a two-day gathering of founders, economists, and thinkers exploring how we shape the world through business, technology, children’s education, and systems evolving faster than ever.

But I didn’t just come for the event.

I came to step out of my day-to-day and ask better questions.
To clear space.
To reconnect with what doesn’t move, even when everything else does.

This is the question I keep coming back to:

In a world that’s only going to move faster, what exactly are we scaling?

Everything is speeding up.
The issue isn’t can we scale.
It’s what we’re scaling, and why.

AI is already making things easier to generate. More automated. More efficient.
Making money is only going to get easier. We’re already seeing it.

The harder part?
Staying connected to what matters while all of that is happening.

Because here’s what I know:
AI doesn’t come with a moral compass.
It doesn’t check your values before it accelerates your results.
It just amplifies whatever you feed it.

So if your clarity is shaky, if your strategy is reactive or chasing the next shiny thing, you may still grow. But you might look up and realize you’ve built something you don’t even want.

I’ve seen it happen again and again over the last 15 years.
People start with vision, but lose their grounding somewhere in their scale.
And by the time they stop to notice, they’re too far in. Their solution is to “burn it all down”.

That’s going to happen even faster due to AI advancements.

I could use this technology to scale anything. I could focus on more visibility, more output, more revenue. That part’s easy.

But that’s not the game I’m playing.

What I’m interested in is:
What are we building that will actually move humanity forward?

Not just faster.
But deeper.
More useful. More lasting.

Because whether we realize it or not, the things we’re building now are shaping the world our kids will grow up in.

Your systems. Your tools. Your content. Your thinking.
It all adds up.

And as business owners, we don’t get to pretend we’re not part of that.
We shape the future, whether we mean to or not.

So here’s what I want to offer you this week:

What do you stand for right now?
Is it visible?
Is it strong enough to scale?

Or is it getting pushed aside in the name of momentum?

We don’t need to be perfect.
But we do need to be present.

More content on social media won’t solve this.
More leaders standing for something, building with clarity and conviction and willing to take people with them will.

And that doesn’t happen by accident.

It’s why I’m here.
To ask myself the same questions I’m offering you.
To build from what doesn’t change, even as everything else does.
